FAQ
-
Why 'agility' ball?
This course includes exercises for active older adults who can stand and move to the floor to exercise with a small, soft ball (also known as a chi ball, Pilates ball, or mini ball). In contrast, our Having a Ball mobility course teaches gentler, chair-based exercises designed for older adults with limited mobility, such as those in aged care settings.
-
Are these exercises suitable for all fitness levels and ages?
They sure are! We provide beginner and advance adaptations for many of the exercises, so you can tailor them to participants of different fitness levels and with different mobility issues. It also means your participants can improve over time and you can keep challenging themselves with harder variations.
-
How long does it take to complete the course?
You can work through the course at your own pace, and come and go as many times as you need. Most instructors finish in 5-6 hours, depending on whether they join in on our sample workouts.
-
Do I get any downloads with my enrollment?
For sure! There are handouts for you, summary sheets if you are a member, and class plan templates for you to print off and start using to build your classes. There is also a Course Workbook with all the exercises included.
-
Is there an assessment on the theory?
To receive your certificate you will need to successfully pass a multiple choice quiz. We want to make sure you understand the important concepts and information in the course, especially around the good technique and things to be mindful of when using a ball in older adults classes.
-
What if I fail the quiz?
Don't worry! You can take the quiz as many times as you need to, so we guarantee that you will be able to complete the course and claim your certificate, even if it takes you a little longer!
-
Is 'Agility Ball for Older Adults' accredited?
Yes! Accreditation points are currently available for PAA (2PDPs), AUSactive (6CECs), FITREC (30pts), NZ Reps (3.5CPDs), SPRA (TBC), and BCRPA (6CECs).
-
If I sign up now can I do the course later?
You sure can! Our Professional Members have ongoing access to all their course enrolments. If you're not yet a member, you have 12 months to work through the course. You can come back as many times you want to during that 12 months for a refresher or new ideas.

Read MoreWow! This course has so many exercises and so much to offer. It gives us fantastic exercise ideas for our older adult classes, some exercises are quite challenging. Through video demonstrations and notes, we can see how to do each exercise and the correct technique. Carol and Trudi present sample class videos so we can see what a standing bodyweight class can look like. I liked the workbook to check back on exercise pics and notes and the templates are good to help in planning a class.
