Carol's Catch-Up: September 2022

Another busy month out and about meeting people

What an exciting month August was, with business, personal and a holiday all combining into a busy schedule.

Early in the month Third Age Fitness exhibited at the Care Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds. It was a new experience, and certainly won’t be our last expo, so we had fun setting up our booth for the first time and seeing what works and what doesn’t. Trudi and I networked with the other exhibitors and met lots of allied health professionals, care givers, NDIS managers, aged care workers, retirement village staff, and the general public.

There was no-one else there encouraging people to exercise, so we got a mixed reaction from the crowds - some loved us and thought our DVDs and online membership is a great service, and others shook their heads and said, ‘We’ve got no time for that!’ I was also able to present chair-based exercise on the event stage, and it was fun to get people moving. It was a tiring two days but well worth our while and we both loved getting out and talking to people.

Next on the calendar was a string of birthdays with family and friends. I am still trying to catch up with everyone for my own birthday that was mid-August, so this has extended the celebrations somewhat! My grandson, who was born on the night of my 60th birthday party, turned 12 this year and his eyes lit up when he received a brand new bike - it seems very big for him but he will grow into it no doubt! It was a fun night where all the family were able to come together and share some good food and some good laughs.
My husband and I have just come back from 10 days in Noosa, and if you’ve been reading my Catch-Up for a while you’ll know this is an annual event! As usual we loved being up there, although the weather was not as good as we have had it other years. We did get to see some beautiful sunsets from our apartment though. We met up with close friends and enjoyed a 15km hike, and of course there was coffee and cake while we caught up on 12 months of news. We spent a day in Maroochydore walking the parks, and we explored new places that we hadn’t seen before. The days are always filled with walking, coffees, and eating little treats that I wouldn’t normally eat.
Spring is definitely in the air and I look forward to September with lots of things on the calendar. Of course, football finals are high on my agenda although my team is not participating (there is always next year!), and we have already had a weekend of fantastic games. These were made all the more exciting and enjoyable because I am not emotionally invested in the outcome! I have a couple of speaking engagements for Third Age Fitness with various groups and clubs too, which I really enjoy because I get to meet new people and help them live their best lives.

If you have lost a little momentum over these colder months, now is the time to get up and start exercising and work at getting back to the pre-winter fitness levels. Why not consider taking out a membership which will help motivate you as you don’t even have to leave your home to do your workout!

Yours in fitness,
Carol
