What hobbies do you have at the moment? What do you enjoy doing?
I’m very active and I always like keeping busy and doing things, so I enjoy walking, swimming and kayaking when I’m near the water, yoga at home, playing table tennis, and doing whatever I can with the grandkids. I don’t usually sit still for too long, but when I do I enjoy knitting and quilting. Socially, I enjoy dining out with friends and doing my fitness program, and I’m also a part of a local Probus Club so I’m often doing things with the community there too.

How do you feel about ageing? What are you looking forward to in life?
You can’t stop ageing, so I just try and keep fit to enjoy it. Getting older means I’ve got more free time to do the things I want, so I’m looking forward to more travelling (COVID-permitting), and spending time with friends, and still trying new things. I only feel about 40 years old, but I’m reminded that I’m older than that when I feel the little twinges and aches starting!

Has your perspective on ageing changed? What about the people around you?
I don’t think my perspective on ageing has changed much - perhaps because I still feel young! I’m still just trying to do all the things I love, spending time doing what I enjoy, even though some of those things take a bit longer now! I’m probably lucky that most people I know have the same views about ageing as I do.

How long have you been exercising in general? What has that looked like over the years?
I have been exercising most of my life, starting with calisthenics when I was a young girl and through my teenage years, and then progressing to fitness classes when I had small children and was working part time. When I went back to working full time I only had time for walking, so when I retired I loved having the freedom to do yoga and keep fit attending exercise classes.

What was your main reason for taking out a Third Age Fitness membership?
I started my online membership because it gave me the flexibility to exercise when I wanted to, and I love the variety of workouts that are available so I can pick and choose what I want to focus on that day. It’s great that I can do it all at home too, and the cost is really reasonable compared to gyms.

What do you like about Third Age Fitness workouts? Have you noticed any improvements since you started exercising online?
The variety is really important to me, from stretching, to balance, to cardio. The program is easy to access online and I like the updates about new workouts every week. I’ve noticed that my stamina has improved since I started the workouts, and my balance is definitely better, and that I just enjoy the exercise - it’s not a chore. I feel that I have more energy too which has been a big improvement and helped in my everyday life.

Why should people take out a Third Age Fitness membership?
I feel that a Third Age Fitness online membership is very suitable for older people - it addresses their specific areas of need, such as balance, strength, movement and coordination. It’s very cost effective too.
