Carol's Catch-Up

Finally we're back at the footy

Here we are with another month and this will be another busy one too with Easter, family birthdays and Anzac Day, all in the space of just four weeks.
March flew by and my family finally had our first taste of a live AFL game with all the loud noises, sirens, whistles, and food and treats which have become our tradition at the game. It was quite a performance getting into the ground with all the security, COVID procedures, and mobile phone tickets (I do miss the paper!), which meant that by the time we finally got to our seats we were exhausted and almost ready to turn around for home! Just joking. There is nothing like a vocal crowd around you, helicopters flying overhead, and competing with the seagulls to actually see the match.

Unfortunately, we didn’t win the game but that is always secondary to me - just getting the family all together and having a good shout and laugh is worth its weight in gold. We had some friends with us who supported the competing team which added a different dimension to the barracking too! The train trip home is always a chance to debrief and talk about who played well, who was not up to snuff, and looking forward to the next week to see how the team will perform.
I have been spending a little time in the garden pulling out all the petunias and preparing the soil for the next lot of seedlings. March/April is always a beautiful time as the bushes and trees are a blend of their spring colours and their autumn colours, and lots of leaves all over the ground which makes a very pretty picture. I will be putting my primulas in shortly - probably just before Easter - and then they should be flowering by early June. I am astounded at my pansies that I put in May last year - they are still flowering well and have lasted almost 12 months, which goes to show that if you keep the water up over summer they will perform well.

Easter is always a significant time of year for me as I will be reflecting and rejoicing in my faith as well as spending time with family and friends. We have our annual Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday where the big kids and grandchildren have a lot of fun and competition in finding the eggs that they need to take out the trophy - stay tuned for my next Catch Up when I will have a winner for you! Of course lots of food will be consumed too, and there will be a lot of chatter and laughter too as always. It’s always a good day, and I hope you are able to catch up with your family and friends over the Easter break too, and keep connected with those you love.

We have school holidays coming up as well this month and the grandchildren come to our place for a few days. There is usually a day trip and shopping involved, so I will have to start planning for that - if you have any ideas for what I can do with three teen and pre-teen boys please let me know! I still love having them over so I can spend uninterrupted time with each of them, and we can enjoy just sitting around talking and listening to each other. I think they still mostly come for the chocolate though!

Have a great month and a safe Easter. It might also be a good time to consider taking out a membership with us, if you are looking to exercise from the safety and comfort of home. We have our fun Winter Jam dance class coming out in July just for our members, and I can tell you it’s a great workout, and a great laugh. Remember membership is just $24.99 a month, so please consider this as an investment into your own mental and physical health - click on the links below to find out more about our membership options. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] to talk about our membership options.

Keep on exercising,
