GENERAL
Who is behind Third Age Fitness?
Trudi and Carol are a mother and daughter team that have dedicated their lives to see older adults as healthy and happy as they can be - age is no barrier to exercise, and there is always an alternative in sight! We encourage older adults to work as hard as they can, as best as they can, for as long as they can, as that’s all you can do! We are not affiliated with any fitness centres, associations, education providers or organisations.
What qualifications do you have?
Carol and Trudi have been working in the fitness industry, and specially working with older adults, for more than 50 years combined. They both have a Certificate III/IV in Fitness, as well as a range of additional short courses including Pilates, Ageing with Attitude, Pelvic Floor Fitness, Understanding Dementia, Caring for Seniors, Lifetime Wellness, and Weight Loss Management.
Carol and Trudi both have a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment also. Where relevant, a bibliography is provided for the research and content used to develop each training course.

ONLINE TRAINING
Are your courses accredited?
Most of our courses have been accredited by the national bodies in Australia, Physical Activity Australia and AUSactive. Courses have also been recognised by FITREC, and NZ Reps in New Zealand. Please see individual course pages for allocation of points.
For those courses without accreditation, professional development points are available via application to the governing body. If you require further information to receive training recognition from your peak body, contact [email protected] for assistance.
How long is a course enrolment?
Professional Members have unlimited access to their courses for the life of their membership. For non-members, course enrolment is for a period of 12 months (365 days), during which users can access course materials. After this time users will have access only to the course certificate via the Student Dashboard. The enrolment period begins from the date when access to course materials is granted.
If a user is unable to complete their course within the 12 month period, they may apply for an extension in writing to [email protected]. In extenuating circumstances an extension may be granted at the discretion of Third Age Fitness. Users accept that they are required to pay the full course fee even if they are unable to complete the course within the allotted time, but have the option of taking out a Professional Membership at any time to access prior learning.
Can I get a refund on my enrolment? Or transfer to a friend?
Course fees (either the first instalment or full fees) are required to be paid at the time of enrolment, or prior to the commencement of a course (whichever is earliest).
Once a course has commenced, no refunds are available. However, in extenuating circumstances, users may request to transfer their registration to another course, or a credit note may be offered for future courses. Transfers will be granted at the discretion of Third Age Fitness.
What course materials are provided?
Course material includes all web content, course workbook, handouts, videos, multimedia presentations and other learning materials provided within the online training environment. All course content is available for viewing online and may not be downloaded or printed unless otherwise stated. Absolutely no content is to be copied, recorded, printed or reproduced without explicit permission from Third Age Fitness.
All course handouts and downloads remain protected by copyright and may not be reproduced or duplicated without written permission from Third Age Fitness.
The online learning portal may be unavailable to users during scheduled maintenance windows. During this time, if handouts or course materials are required they may be requested via email to [email protected].
How are courses assessed? Do I have to send in videos?
The majority of courses are 100% online and have an online multiple choice quiz that you must pass to successfully complete the course. You are allowed three attempts at the quiz. If you are not successful after those attempts, contact [email protected] for additional assistance. You will not be required to pay any additional fees for additional attempts.
Older Adult Fitness Level 1 workshops have a practical assessment that is to be completed face to face or via Zoom. More details about this assessment are available in the course. Again, our goal is to help you learn and gain the skills to become a great teacher - we will not fail you, we will always work with you to help you succeed.
How do I get my certificate?
Once you have completed the course and successfully passed the assessment, your certificate will be immediately available to you. Use these instructions to get your certificate.
